| Broken Chains Ministries, Inc., is a family-focused, faith-based non-profit organization in the heart of Polk County, FL offering a beacon of hope to men, women, and youth who find themselves in an undesirable situation incarcerated and/or being released from jail or prison. BCMI Reentry for a Better Life Program was formed in 2005, as a non-residential intervention program designed to deliver services to and advocate on behalf of men, women and youth within the criminal justice system in Polk, Hardee and Highlands Counties. The mission of Broken Chains Ministries, is to strengthen and mobilize the human and financial resources of low-moderate wealth individuals, families and neighborhoods by initiating a community economic development strategy which provides the tools needed to achieve self-sufficiency includes—helping families in transition; providing economic opportunities such as job creation, business development; affordable housing; home ownership, and encouraging the spiritual well-being of the families and communities we serve. The primary goal of Broken Chains Ministries’ strategic plan is to: ■ Reduce recidivism. ■ Assist mothers and fathers in regaining custody and care of their children. ■ Help men, women and youth obtain and maintain permanent, safe, and affordable housing. ■ Help men, women and youth obtain and maintain (living wage) employment. ■ Help men, women and youth returning to their communities adopt a positive and responsible lifestyle/plan. Established in 2005, BCMI offers and provides leadership on public service initiatives in an effort to promote change in the lives of individuals and families with criminal records, vision is to assist in rebuilding the skills, motivation, counsel, faith, hope, and encouragement necessary to help individuals and families come out of life of crime and from doing time to a life of joy and fulfillment while restoring individuals, families, and communities to the degree possible. Standing along side our former Governor Jeb Bush who said he's committed to the ideal of America being a Land of a Second Chance, as expressed by the President of the United States at his 2004 State of the Union Address and he said, "When the gates of the prison open, the path ahead should lead to a better life." BCMI has taken a holistic approach of Prayer, Counsel, Case Management, Life Coaches, Referral Service, Needs Assessment, Sponsorship, Collaboration with other organizations and a willingness to make a difference in the lives of God's children, have a strong desire to build faith, self-esteem, goal setting, manageability, business owners, gainfully employed individuals that will lead a better life and not reenter the County, and or State of Florida's jails or prisons systems. |
